FIRST BAPTIST OF IVY GAP

A poignant comedy in two acts, six women of the Ivy Gap First Baptist Church gather during the waning days of WWII to prepare surgical bandages for the Red Cross. While performing their duties, they share secrets, aspirations and dreams as they plan the church's 75th anniversary. Twenty-five years later, it's the Viet Nam War and the church's centennial as the "First Baptist 6" reunite to discover that the love they share can overcome the most difficult problems.

Luby: A widowed member of the church who fears for the welfare of her son in the military (40s, Act I - 60s, Act II)
Olene: a member of the church with a dream (30s, Act I - 50s Act II)
Mae Ellen: The church's rebellious organist (30s, Act I - 50s Act II)
Edith: the pastor's take charge wife (40s, Act I - 60s, Act II)
Sammy: a non-church member with a secret (early 20s, Act I - 40s, Act II)
Vera: prominent member of the church also with a secret (40s, Act I - 60s, Act II)
